Facial Aging

Aging is normal, but no one wants to look old! Factors that impact facial aging are lifestyle, environment, sun exposure, hormonal changes, facial bone mass loss, subcutaneous facial fat loss and shifting because of gravity and years of dynamic facial muscle expressions and movements (i.e. smiling, frowning, grimacing). Our skin loses the ability to produce collagen, and our skin starts to sag. After the age of 30, our face starts to lose structural support in the form of fat and bone. By age 60 there is a 25 percent loss of bone mass (resulting in an increase of orbital aperture – sunken eye look). The resulting loose skin and structural differences causes downward pull of the mid and lower portions of the face, often creating deep nasolabial folds, marionette lines and jowls.

Several procedures and techniques are available to provide a more youthful appearance. These non-surgical cosmetic procedures can help you to reduce the signs of aging. Evaluating the whole face and your structural tissue integrity is very important in determining which treatment options are best for you. Various injections and facial fillers are available, each uniquely designed to provide structural support and volumizing effects. These treatments can be used in all areas of the face to provide natural-looking results without the need for surgery.
